"Since speaking with mentors, the amount of time I take now to make decisions and start actioning is like 1/10th of what I used to take."
Shankar Shethe
What are you working on?
Axelerant is a global tech services agency with a fully distributed team. I’m a Growth Marketing Manager here, responsible for identifying and scaling new customer acquisition channels to achieve the agency’s growth targets.
Before you found GrowthMentor, where did you turn for advice?
Mostly I would brainstorm, discuss and contemplate with colleagues. I also spent a decent amount of time looking for some of the ideas/answers/inspirations on the internet.
What compelled you to sign up for GrowthMentor?
In the past, I’ve had enough instances where I got advice from experienced folks and that advice was always better than the ideas being discussed within my team. Many a time, simply because these came from the years of experience, and from a new perspective/outlook. Teams, companies sometimes become echo chambers, fall prey to groupthink and stop producing fresh ideas; an external perspective from experts is almost always helpful!
I never thought there would be a ‘marketplace’ to effortlessly seek advice or mentorship. When I saw one (GrowthMentor), I already had enough relatable experience from the past and I signed up.
What’s the best part of being a part of this community?
Hmmm hard to say the one best thing 🙂 I’ll give a few things I really like. First and foremost, the quality of mentors on board – not just in terms of experience and subject matter expertise BUT their enthusiasm, and the genuine desire they have to HELP someone out. Secondly, the process of seeking mentorship is so effortless – Find a Mentor and book-a-call OR post a request, get mentors to approach me and book-a-call. Simple!
Any sessions or mentors stand out as top notch?
I’ve been doing these sessions for quite a while now. This one session with Victor Eduoh stands out to me from my recent memory! His approach to content marketing and the simple framework he has put together to start putting things in action was really noteworthy.
Do you have any results to share?
Most of the things I discussed are of high-impact (compounding effect) and slow to start showing results; content marketing for example.
However, there is one thing to talk about – the amount of time I take now to make decisions and start actioning is like 1/10th of what I used to take.
