1. Alex Grechanowski
Describe yourself
As a strategic and growth-minded digital marketing professional, I’ve delivered measurable business results to over 120 clients (B2B SaaS, B2B SaaS, ecommerce, startups, SMBs) and have successfully helped them take their business to the next level. Clients have included TextMagic, AdEspresso, ClickPoint Software, Bitrefill, Feel Good Video.
During 2016-2020, I’ve mentored over 100 teams in 500 Startups, Startup Wise Guys, Start-Up Chile, Buildit (Estonia), Katapult Accelerator (Oslo), Startup Reykjavík, Startup Sauna (Kyiv).
In just one sentence, why do you want to become a growth mentor?
I’m already a growth mentor in different startup ecosystems, looking for new ways to share my passion for marketing with founders.
In your words, what does a growth mindset mean to you?
For me, a growth mindset is about being very specific about the market – know your competition inside out; talk with your customers – and then use tactical expertise to find traction or scale growth.
If you could mentor a startup on one topic, what would it be?
Creating a sales funnel. Why? Because the topic goes beyond just a single tactic, say SEO or product-market fit. I run workshops about it and have found it as a needed topic during my mentorship sessions for early-stage startups.
2. Alex Kelly
Describe yourself
I’m an entrepreneur at my core who’s founded numerous businesses since I was 14. I’ve since decided to move to the computer science field where I’ve been building products, managing teams, and focusing on helping increase diversity in our field. Focusing on diversity and helping others navigate difficult circumstances in life is critical to me as I’ve never had it easy in life.
In just one sentence, why do you want to become a growth mentor?
I want to help everyone achieve their dreams and have the same chances I had.
In your words, what does a growth mindset mean to you?
A growth mindset is a lifestyle. It’s all about trying, doing, failing, learning, and recovering. You can’t have a growth mindset without risks, challenges, struggles, and patience. To have a “growth mindset” one must be willing to live in the uncomfortable world.
If you could mentor a startup on one topic, what would it be?
Happiness – I spent five years chasing money instead of focusing on the things that made me happy. My number one theme in all of my mentorship sessions I’ve held to date has always been to focus on your own happiness and nothing more.
Describe an out of the box solution to a complex problem that made you proud of yourself?
This question is actually an incredibly complex problem to answer as the answer can totally miss when talking with people. In these situations, I’ve found that it’s best that I admit that I’m the dumbest in the room and that I’m not actually that good. I do this because I believe I will always have room to grow and learn no matter what I do, and by being modest, most are open to teach.
3. Helen Peatfield
Describe yourself
I’m a copywriter hell-bent on ridding B2B founders of disappointing conversion rates and maddening churn.
Happy when I’m chin-deep in data. Happier when I’m checking results. Elated when I can help someone move that stubborn growth needle without it costing the earth, or their sanity.
In your words, what does a growth mindset mean to you?
Putting your ideas to work.
If you could mentor a startup on one topic, what would it be?
I love reviewing web copy, landing pages, and onboarding emails. I’ll give you actionable tips on how to improve your existing copy. Or give you the tools to start a brand new project.
Describe an out of the box solution to a complex problem that made you proud of yourself?
A client is a fledgling start-up marketing agency for SaaS startups. They asked me to write an email sequence for them. But after a discovery call, I found they weren’t ready to make it a success. Instead, I taught them how to interview existing customers, build up their success stories, and create a rock-solid UVP. Since then, they’ve used my process to build and launch their own SaaS product.
4. Jordan Gorosh
Describe yourself
In just one sentence, why do you want to become a growth mentor?
I love driving revenue for businesses.
In your words, what does a growth mindset mean to you?
If you could mentor a startup on one topic, what would it be?
Describe an out of the box solution to a complex problem that made you proud of yourself?
I once leveraged “life events” targeting for a QSR at Google that focused on people who were moving. For whatever reason, there was a commonality in the Venn Diagram between moving soon & wanting to eat dinner between 5-6 PM.
5. Sam Collier
Describe yourself
In just one sentence, why do you want to become a growth mentor?
To genuinely help business owners overcome issues with their digital advertising.
In your words, what does a growth mindset mean to you?
Scaling aggressively. Testing rigorously. Always learning.
If you could mentor a startup on one topic, what would it be?
Facebook & Instagram Advertising. I’ve spent the past 4-5 years fully immersed in the digital advertising space with FB/IG Ads as my forte.
Describe an out of the box solution to a complex problem that made you proud of yourself?
Great question! In June, Facebook purged a whole network of Facebook Media Buyers profiles from ever advertising again of which I curated a killer strategy to get back online & recover anything lost in the process.
6. Sylvain Giuliani
Describe yourself
I have built & led the growth, sales, data, and Ops teams at Pusher 1 to 40+ employees, from 10k users to 500k+ users. I have have the direct manager of 40+ people from junior designer to VP of marketing. I love building systems that can be automated as much as possible and rely on data. Hit me up if you want someone to discuss strategy, accelerate your career, managing people, building teams, or just want to geek out on growth ideas!
In just one sentence, why do you want to become a growth mentor?
I always benefited from having mentors in my career and I now want to help other people. Selfishly, this is also an opportunity for me to stay in touch with day to day growth problems and see what is new in growth world.
In your words, what does a growth mindset mean to you?
Someone who is always looking for ways to improve anything. Could be themselves, a project, a product, a process, it doesn’t matter. The only thing that matters is answering “how can I make this thing better right now?”
If you could mentor a startup on one topic, what would it be?
How to build a growth team and develop themselves as a growth leader.
Describe an out of the box solution to a complex problem that made you proud of yourself?
Problem: how to build commercial & product partnerships/integrations with bigger players when you just started a company.
Solution: build an “Indie Bundle” of your space. Give away discount/license for free where everyone gets free awareness and goodwill. Once the project is done and successful, you know the relevant person in the company, have a track record you can now do revenue-generating partnerships with them easily, even though you are a “small” company.
