Describe yourself

I am quite literally obsessed with growth disciplines spanning marketing, data, engineering, product, and design – It is my hobby, what a beautiful time to be alive!

On top of that, having mentored >100 people from C-Level to interns across growth challenges has made me realize I enjoy making others succeed.

What this means for you is I can probably help so long as you are open to candid, direct, honest conversations to find the truth and progress from there.

In just one sentence, why do you want to become a growth mentor?

Making others thrive across complex growth problems & careers is incredibly fulfilling, it feels necessary to me after having done mentoring for nearly a decade.

In your words, what does a growth mindset mean to you?

I started with an understanding that a growth mindset means abilities & intelligence can be developed through dedication, hard work, and perseverance.

Over the years I have learned that it is more than that. It is an urge you wake up with in the morning to see challenges as opportunities. It is about embracing failure as a way to grow. It is about being open-minded. It is about being vocally self-critical. It is a decision that you need to make and dedicate yourself to. It is about bringing others along on the journey with you too so they can be the best person they can be.

I have adopted it as a huge part of my life and decided that a growth mindset is part of a life worth living.

If you could mentor a startup on one topic, what would it be?

How to make a 0m-500m EUR revenue business grow in reality, not just in theory.

Describe an out-of-the-box solution to a complex problem that made you proud of yourself.

The problem is/was how to rewrite the CGO job with the advent of Generative AI including a reality that updates every 2-4 weeks.

I realized at the highest possible level that the concept of work, of distinct responsibilities, of distinct tasks had settled into a “status quo” before genAI and had now been set to a new way of doing work for about ~70% of tasks almost “overnight”.

I came to this conclusion after doing an exercise of “fire the CGO, hire the CGO” and asking myself how should responsibility-level & task-level work be done if it could be reduced to a computation through LLMs.

In coming up with a solution firstly I realized that LLMs are semi-blind genius-grade interns – they need lots of context and clear what/why/where/when/how guidance on tasks.

Secondly, I realized that one of these LLM interns can effectively talk to another intern if you connect them.

Thirdly I realized that humans see a task often as 1 task. If you take a step back though and use first principles you will realize that we often combine 10-20 micro-judgments / microdata processing actions into 1 task by running parallel workstreams, some consciously & some sub-consciously, conceptually a bit how neural networks are architected.

Lastly, I realized that custom instructions inside chatGPT are a very effective & efficient way to convey to the interns not just how to do their own tasks but also how to listen to other models and how to pass on their conclusion to the next model

If I combine those 4 insights I realized I had to make models talk to models by disaggregating each of my tasks into a micro-task level machine overview and make 1 model per component. This allows me to now have a whole group of models sequentially & in parallel interface with each other.

The outcome is a constellation of models per task and now I step by step automate the lowest leverage tasks I can do with these models.

It feels smart, but making me admit that also makes me cringe a bit inside, I am not good at self-celebrating, I am better at making fun of myself.

Senior Growth Manager

I am a Growth Manager with extensive analytical experience. I started my career with Data Analytics and Growth was a natural extension to it. I have solid experience working with multiple startups in the MENAP region.

Describe yourself

Growth Manager with 5 years of startup experience in the MENA region. I am a huge nerd on Growth Frameworks, Data, and Martech. I have been part of Growth Teams that have scaled startups to unicorn valuations.

In just one sentence, why do you want to become a growth mentor?

I have been privileged to work with MENA’s top Growth Colleagues and I want to give back all the knowledge I have acquired.

In your words, what does a growth mindset mean to you?

A more pragmatic approach to blend in multiple functions of the company to achieve a common goal.

If you could mentor a startup on one topic, what would it be?

Martech – scalability is key for growing any business and having a great marketing technology stack is the key to that.

Describe an out-of-the-box solution to a complex problem that made you proud of yourself.

Very recently, we had a Shopify section of recommended products. The problem statement was to personalize that section for all our customers and the very first thing I did was gender mapping using first names and libraries that are available online and then we did an analysis of what products a customer next buys based on their historical purchase. Then we created an API to pass an array of products for each customer and voila we had a personalized section of recommended products within 3 days.

Freelance B2B Growth Lead

Hi, I’m Anna 👋 I'm here to help you with your B2B growth challenges 📈🌱 My specialisms: 🎯Go-To-Market Strategy 🎯Experimentation 🎯Demand Generation 🎯Lead Generation 🎯Paid Social 🎯Conversion Rate Optimisation

Describe yourself

Hey! I’m Anna, a fractional B2B Growth Lead based in London. I’ve spent over 6 years growing B2B SaaS companies (Tableau, Attest, Onsi). Want to discuss B2B go-to-market strategy, lead generation, partnerships, or performance marketing? Get in touch – I’d love to help.

In just one sentence, why do you want to become a growth mentor?

I want to support other growth professionals and learn about other people’s challenges.

In your words, what does a growth mindset mean to you?

A growth mindset is all about your attitude to failure: do you see it as an opportunity to learn and grow, or as something to be avoided at all costs? Embracing failure is the key to unlocking personal (and business) growth; if you’re not failing often enough, you’re not pushing yourself hard enough.

If you could mentor a startup on one topic, what would it be?

Prioritisation! Learning how to prioritize the right things is so, so important (much more important than learning how to say yes to everything).

Describe an out-of-the-box solution to a complex problem that made you proud of yourself.

At Onsi, lead generation was hard: low-intent lead generation (content downloads and webinar sign-ups) wasn’t working at scale, and neither was high-intent lead generation (demo bookings and product sign-ups). I hypothesized that our ICP was too busy to spend time learning via content or webinars, *and* too busy to try out new products. So, I tested pushing bite-sized elements of the product (rather than the entire product suite). The result? 18x increase in lead volume (and 2.5x increase in conversion from lead to SQL).

In just one sentence, why do you want to become a growth mentor?

In your words, what does a growth mindset mean to you?

It’s about thinking about solutions and opportunities.

If you could mentor a startup on one topic, what would it be?

Recruitment

Describe an out-of-the-box solution to a complex problem that made you proud of yourself.

Chief Product Officer

An explorer who loves action, and a builder who loves discovering - be it as a product leader or else, I like finding the perfect OS for a collective to solve the problems they choose, and loving it.
Also an expert in:
View profile

Describe yourself

I like to think of myself as an explorer who likes to be on the brink, in the action – not just observing from the sidelines. Since I was small I wanted to be an explorer and a diplomat and so I’ve been doing product across Asia – from Singapore to Uzbekistan – for 10+ years precisely because it enables me to be on the border. I want to bring to building & scaling the combo of high energy for days without wind and focus & calm for the stormy days.

My key product craft is scaling organizations and products in demanding contexts. As program manager, I played a key role in launching game-changing initiatives for Redmart.com (online groceries in Singapore) in Singapore. At Daraz.com (the leading e-commerce marketplace in South Asia, Ali group), as project leader, I spearheaded a rapid re-platforming project for the Ali group across five countries in South Asia. As the founding CPO of zood.biz (lending ecosystem in MENA & CIS), I kickstarted and drove the team, the business, and the products across multiple pivots and 10 Middle-Eastern / Central Asian countries.

Funnily, even when I wasn’t a product but a commercial lead in Lazada.com (leading e-commerce marketplace in Southeast Asia, Ali group), it was still about scaling teams – which gifted me with a sometimes hard-boiled business sense.

Predictably, as someone pragmatic, I take pride in my ability to deliver tangible results, fast and from scratch. For instance, at Redmart.com I boosted user lifetime value by over 25% within months with a fresh and frozen offer and brought that into regular operations within 3 months. At Zood.biz, I set up a new BNPL product stack from scratch in less than 6 months, which enabled us to double the growth rate.

But what I value most is my conviction that the right collective will be able to deliver anything – and so that it’s all about building them. At Lazada, I replaced and retrained a team of local representatives in 3 months. At Zood, I took products from a one-man operation to a 20+ people team. It’s a mix of extreme clarity, adoption focus, and persistent commitment that makes some people still refer positively to my work years later, like in Daraz.com or at Lazada.com, where my boss called me “the rock of calm in the storm”

I’ve been coaching, mentoring, and advising for years now – I find this is a hygiene of performance – on growing products, product people, and product teams and I’m just thrilled at the idea of doing that with growthmentors.com and its members

In just one sentence, why do you want to become a growth mentor?

Mentoring is a personal learning and growth hygiene – it contributes to the World by putting new good businesses out there, and it makes me even better at what I do – and I’m looking at expanding my reach with growthmentor.com

In your words, what does a growth mindset mean to you?

To me, a growth mindset is about being ever candidly curious, being generously critical, and constantly looking at what disproves or expands one’s view of the World. It’s about becoming less dumb, getting to know oneself better thanks to the reflection of the World, and vice-versa.

If you could mentor a startup on one topic, what would it be?

Would I had to mentor someone on a single topic, I would choose the art of decision-making. I find it irrigates almost everything else, from taking an investment to organizing one’s calendar. I have both a long experience and a wide array of sources to explain, which makes me able to help a lot of people.

Describe an out-of-the-box solution to a complex problem that made you proud of yourself.

I don’t think I ever thought that – but I can share a few things that made me proud: we were an e-commerce app, pushing aggressively a contextually unique cash-on-delivery value proposition. Except that I knew out of experience we would need a lot of cash to scale that – and COVID stroke, wiping out months of fund-raising progress. We had to change tack: keep users engaged on their payment needs without the burn rate. So we came up with the idea of fractioning and delaying payment, with a non-cash method attached. Within a few weeks, we had shipped the first in-house BNPL payment method, then an API. And within months the business pivoted from “e-commerce with cool payment” to “BNPL with great e-commerce.”

Fractional Product Leader

Hi - I'm Ashley Jefferson. I am a firm believer that a sound business and product strategy goes way beyond the product you bring to market. A strategy that is clear on the problems they solve and who they solve it for, allows for you to be able to handle the seen and unseen. Hope we chat!

Describe yourself

Hey, I’m Ashley Grace Jefferson, excited to meet you! I have a Business degree from Seton Hall University and an MBA from NYU Stern. My career journey spans finance at Prudential and product management at both Prudential and JP Morgan, where I led teams of product managers. I am looking forward to collaborating on strategies that ignite growth for your venture, enchant your customers, and ensure you stay at the forefront of your industry. Off the clock, you’ll find me trying a boutique fitness studio class, at a wine tasting, enjoying cherished moments with family and friends, or catching up on my favorite Bravo TV shows.

In just one sentence, why do you want to become a growth mentor?

I want to become a growth mentor because I want to make it easier for founders and founding team members to access the information and connections they need to build a venture that founders, customers, and investors love.

In your words, what does a growth mindset mean to you?

To me, embracing a growth mindset entails setting aside ego and fear, dedicating time to define success, and remaining open to pivoting. This mindset is crucial as it encourages honesty about aspirations in both business and life, clarifying the necessary steps—even if they’re uncomfortable—to achieve them.

If you could mentor a startup on one topic, what would it be?

Product thinking! It is the crux of great strategy (broader business strategy and product strategy), as well as what is necessary in creating a sound product.

Describe an out-of-the-box solution to a complex problem that made you proud of yourself.

In the healthcare industry, a major player sought to venture into women’s health, addressing a historically taboo subject where women felt unheard. The challenge was to devise a strategy to build trust within this demographic. After several conversations, it was clear that they were over-indexing on their target demographic (women) but not actively including who women would turn to in order to validate information (mainly doctors). This led to the proposal of a strategy that involved including doctors in the social media strategy as well as providing a way for them to receive official education on the subject, which historically has not been easily accessible to them.

Senior Product Manager

I'm a product manager with a comprehensive background, blending over 6 years of experience in product management and design. My academic foundation includes an MBA and a Bachelor of Computer Science. I specialize in leveraging this unique mix of skills to drive innovation and deliver solutions.

Describe yourself

I’m all about dreaming big and leading the charge in innovation. With my knack for strategy and tech skills, I turn cool ideas into reality, tackle challenges head-on, and leave a mark wherever I go. I’m always on the grow, jumping into risks, picking myself up from the oops moments, and pushing forward, no matter what.

In just one sentence, why do you want to become a growth mentor?

To me, a growth mindset is the belief that our abilities and intelligence can be developed through dedication, hard work, and a sprinkle of resilience. It’s like looking at life as an endless classroom, where every challenge is a pop quiz and every setback is a lesson, not a final grade. It means embracing the unknown, being okay with not being perfect, and always asking, “What’s next?” Instead of hitting a wall and turning back, it’s about climbing over it, tunneling under it, or maybe even painting it a new color. It’s the idea that “can’t” is just “haven’t yet,” and every day is a chance to learn more, do more, and be more.

If you could mentor a startup on one topic, what would it be?

Product Management; so many people misunderstand the role.

Describe an out-of-the-box solution to a complex problem that made you proud of yourself.

Monetizing a business that doesn’t directly generate revenue can be quite the puzzle, but it’s one I eagerly took on and managed to solve, leading to significant growth. Initially, the challenge was daunting: how do you create a revenue stream for a platform that prides itself on offering services or content for free, without undermining its core values or alienating its user base?

B2B Content and SEO Strategist; Former OpenTable & Upwork

I'm a content and SEO strategist, specializing in B2B SaaS. I work with companies to achieve a few common goals: increase traffic to their site with a carefully crafted SEO strategy, scale content production, improve content reach through distribution, and drive more leads with mid-funnel content.

Describe yourself

After years of working in-house on marketing teams at tech companies in Silicon Valley, I left those worlds for the solopreneur journey. What drew me in was the chance to help teams that were struggling due to limited resources. Along the way, I discovered my passion for teaching and supporting diverse teams.

I’m a seasoned content marketer, strategist, and editor, specializing in crafting targeted B2B content programs.

In just one sentence, why do you want to become a growth mentor?

I love mentoring and guiding people on their journeys and helping people realize the importance of marketing for their businesses.

In your words, what does a growth mindset mean to you?

Having the will to test, fail, experiment, and iterate and being scrappy along the way to find what works.

If you could mentor a startup on one topic, what would it be?

Content and SEO strategy from the ground up, including how to build a scalable program that drives awareness and acquisition.

Describe an out-of-the-box solution to a complex problem that made you proud of yourself.

When I joined OpenTable to lead the B2B content team, the website and content hadn’t been optimized for search, therefore missing out on a lot of traffic. Plus the blog lived on a separate URL from the rest of the website, which meant the 500+ blog posts didn’t contribute to search rankings.

I migrated the website onto the same URL, including the 1,000+ articles at the time, and prioritized SEO content development and website copy. By looking at this challenge holistically, the team applied a pillar-cluster model to content creation for target keywords. Organic traffic to content increased by 600% over 18 months, and organic content campaigns drove 7 figures in estimated 3-year revenue.

Describe an out-of-the-box solution to a complex problem that made you proud of yourself.

Post COVID e-commerce business targets were being set quite aggressively which led to heavy pressure on internal teams, drafting unrealistic plans, missing targets & disappointing leadership teams. My suggestion was to take the wealth of customer data, and build a base for realistic growth forecasting from cohort groups that indicate the rate of retention, first orders, and order freq existing. Then translate these forecasts to individual channel targets. This allowed us to set realistic expectations across functions, yet challenged internal teams to scale & optimize channels at a target ROI. As a result, +7% increase in new customers, an +11% increase in revenue, and a -14% lesser cost.

It wasn’t just about numbers; it was about tapping into the heart of communities. So, we embarked on a journey, launching weekly campaigns for six months that celebrated the unique vibes of major hyperlocal events across Europe, like German Independence Day or La Chandeleur in France. Sure, it was a hefty task, but the joy of seeing our campaigns resonate with people on a personal level made every moment worth it. It was a reminder that in the world of marketing, connecting with people on a human level can truly make all the difference.

With 7 years in fast-growth B2B start-ups and growth-stage tech companies, I’ve honed expertise in market entry, expansion, and go-to-market strategies, alongside developing all kinds of partnerships (agency, tech/product, brand) and have helped shape partner programs. I’m data-driven, endlessly curious, and bring high energy to everything I do. Let’s grow together!

In just one sentence, why do you want to become a growth mentor?

I love helping people with great ideas, or products that help make the world better, and achieve their goals – plus, it’s a lot of fun figuring out the best paths to growth in an ever-changing landscape of time, money, skills, and timing.

In your words, what does a growth mindset mean to you?

Having a growth mindset means you believe that you never stop learning, so you remain curious and constantly seek to collect more knowledge and skills

If you could mentor a startup on one topic, what would it be?

Go to Market Strategy 0 to 1

Describe an out-of-the-box solution to a complex problem that made you proud of yourself.

Helping a side-hustler, who sought to quit their day job to focus on building their business full-time, by taking what was a big hurdle – remaining financially stable – and quantifying exactly how many more clients per month he would need to serve to get his business profit up to the same level as his salaried position. What seemed like a mountain to climb, turned out to be a small hill and he was a lot closer to his goal than he thought! Pretty motivating.

Group Product Manager @ Rithum | Expertise in 0-to-1 & Scaling Enterprise SaaS | 2 Successful Exits

Facing SaaS challenges? I've excelled in 0-to-1 growth, secured two exits, and drove $500K in sales within 2 years at my agency. Now leading the 4th largest global eCommerce network transacting $50B in GMV annually. Borrow some of my scar tissue and avoid costly mistakes. Let's connect.

Describe yourself

As an empathetic product leader with nearly 20 years of experience, I’ve excelled in building and scaling SaaS platforms, leading to two successful exits and managing teams that service major global retailers and brands on a platform that transacts over $50B in GMV, annually. I held the California state record in the deadlift and was a gold medalist in Pickleball.

In just one sentence, why do you want to become a growth mentor?

I enjoy helping people tackle their obstacles and grow because seeing them reach their potential is really rewarding.

In your words, what does a growth mindset mean to you?

Curiosity and the relentless pursuit of continuous improvement, regardless of the challenges or costs involved.

If you could mentor a startup on one topic, what would it be?

How to use empathy. With empathy, we unlock a deeper level of understanding that creates rapport, builds trust, generates insights, and inspires innovation.

Describe an out-of-the-box solution to a complex problem that made you proud of yourself.

We were facing a potential $500M+ loss in annual GMV due to a vendor demanding an unreasonably high revenue share and disabling our app. Our team had spent months in negotiation to reduce the revenue share. Instead, I focused on completely abolishing it. By evaluating/interviewing alternative app providers and discovering none faced such charges, we successfully presented our findings, compelling the vendor to relent.

Senior Product Marketing Strategist | B2B | SaaS | Tech

Nearly a decade of immersing myself in marketing every day! ✨ I've worked across various industries but discovered my true passion in strategizing digital marketing for B2B tech businesses. 💻

Describe yourself

With 7+ years in B2B marketing, I’m your go-to mentor for SaaS product, or IT services marketing!

Experience in industries like IT, cybersecurity, energy, or maritime honed my ability to unravel the most complex concepts and present them in a simple way.

If you find yourself wrestling with the puzzle of positioning, messaging, or craving insight into new marketing challenges, I’m your go-to person.

In just one sentence, why do you want to become a growth mentor?

Knowledge sharing and contribution to others’ growth motivate me the most.

In your words, what does a growth mindset mean to you?

Stay hungry, stay curious, and be courageous. If you can not settle in your comfort zone, and your eyes roll over when someone says “Let’s leave it as it is, we always did it like that”, congratulations, you have a growth mindset.

If you could mentor a startup on one topic, what would it be?

Integrated marketing campaigns! I think too many organizations don’t integrate their campaigns and messaging through all the channels, and that is such a waste of good potential and effort. It’s so important and actually very easy!

Describe an out-of-the-box solution to a complex problem that made you proud of yourself.

My colleagues struggled for years to understand the complex market of the competitors. Every new name in the market made everyone uncomfortable because it was not easy to compare ourselves with others due to the complex product, especially when there are hundreds of names and all of them differ. After a while, I came up with a competitor categorization framework, and we were able to divide those hundreds of brands, into 5 simple categories.

Fractional Startup Growth Advisor & Technologist | COO & CTO at ASPER BROTHERS

Navigating startup challenges? I’m Mike, your mentor in tech & growth. With a journey from a 16-year-old founder in 2007 to a COO & CTO, I offer actionable insights with my START>BUILD>GROW framework. Let’s turn your vision into reality. Reach out to start our conversation.

Describe yourself

I’m Mike, and for 14 years as COO of a software house, ASPER BROTHERS, I’ve been building and leading outsourced web development teams, mostly for startups. For both the big and the great like xref.com or exide.com and the small like untanglegrief.com or promodomo.nl. So I can help you look at your needs with an agile mindset, take proper strategic and architectural steps when planning your product development phases, and then compose and warm up a good agile team integrated with your organization. And if you’re having challenges with your outsourced team’s communication or collaboration culture, I’m happy to help diagnose the causes and find solutions.

In just one sentence, why do you want to become a growth mentor?

I love giving advice – I feel uplifted when I see someone benefit from talking with me.

In your words, what does a growth mindset mean to you?

It is investing all free financial resources in continuous experimentation and all ahead of where it works, on the other hand – pragmatic evaluation of new trends and not burning money on foolish things.

If you could mentor a startup on one topic, what would it be?

The most common advice I give is to take a step back. Forget about MVP scoping and product building. Instead, think about customer development first. Then I also often advise on the best way to communicate requirements to the technical team so that you can spend 4 hours on it, not two weeks, and do it better.

Describe an out-of-the-box solution to a complex problem that made you proud of yourself.

A startup I advised came up with an idea for a complex web application. Very heavily data-driven and a bit of Machine Learning. It required about a year to build and a large financial investment (average estimates were between $300-600k). After my advice of using other tech solutions for the launch, we created an MVP in 2 months for $30k. The rest was spent on marketing. We came to this complex solution gradually as our customer base grew.

Leveraging my expertise in sales, marketing, and growth hacking, I am now consulting and assisting early-stage companies in achieving sustainable growth.

In just one sentence, why do you want to become a growth mentor?

To share my knowledge with people who need it.

In your words, what does a growth mindset mean to you?

It’s like being a four-year-old—always asking why and never minding the small falls.

If you could mentor a startup on one topic, what would it be?

Sales and marketing alignment – I have managed both teams and had great success aligning them to a common goal, removing silos

Describe an out-of-the-box solution to a complex problem that made you proud of yourself.

Some of the growth hacks I’ve implemented cannot be shared, but they have proven to be highly effective, hence I always try to think about different ways to tackle growth.

One example from a few years ago involved analyzing our discount tactics during the sales process to gauge efficiency and the corresponding CVR/CAC. Upon identifying that a setup fee discount was the most effective across all metrics, I strategically increased our setup fee. This adjustment allowed us to offer larger visible discounts while still covering the cost, creating a perception of a bargain.

I then established an operational process to integrate this tactic seamlessly into our sales approach. The sales team could utilize the discounts whenever needed, leading to an immediate improvement in both CAC and CVR.

I’m a founder of 2 companies – a software development agency and a startup in the automotive industry. Would love to help other founders and teams validate their ideas, set up day-to-day operations, and scale their businesses.

Describe yourself

I’m a business owner helping B2B and B2C startups bring their business ideas to life through technical expertise and flawless execution. Over the last 10 years, I’ve been guiding companies from product concepts to launches, including unicorns, renowned banks, and Big Four companies. I can mentor in streamlining day-to-day operations and optimizing processes to ensure operational efficiency and sustainable growth.

In just one sentence, why do you want to become a growth mentor?

I enjoy sharing knowledge and experience with others and seeing how it impacts their professional and business development.

In your words, what does a growth mindset mean to you?

It’s about “not yet.” When you face obstacles on your journey or experience failure, you simply say “not yet” and keep learning and improving.

If you could mentor a startup on one topic, what would it be?

Company operations. This is what I handle on a daily basis, it’s where I’ve encountered and resolved most of my business challenges. As a result, I believe I can assist other founders and startup teams in gaining operational clarity through our conversations.

Describe an out-of-the-box solution to a complex problem that made you proud of yourself.

Implementation of a decentralized decision-making model & cross-functional project squads.

We had a problem related to resource allocation and the fact that our mid-level managers and I were overloaded with dozens of requests from different team members, so we decided to change our company structure to a flat organizational structure where decision-making is decentralized. We empowered teams to make their own decisions regarding their projects. This approach increased employee engagement, faster decision-making, and more innovative solutions as teams felt more ownership over their work.

On the other hand, we created small, agile teams composed of members from different departments (development, design, business analysis) to work on specific projects. This not only encouraged a holistic approach to product development but also promoted knowledge sharing and a deeper understanding of different aspects of the business.

These squads operated semi-autonomously, fostering innovation and a sense of ownership.
Sounds simple, but this decision wasn’t that obvious for us at that period of our development.

Describe an out-of-the-box solution to a complex problem that made you proud of yourself.
